WC-PLN Annual Scholarship

We invite student peer educators to apply for the WC-PLN Annual Scholarship, which recognizes outstanding service, leadership, and commitment to student success through peer academic support. This scholarship celebrates the contributions of peer educators while supporting their continued academic and professional growth.

Awards

One-time cash award: The scholarship award will be presented at the 11th Annual WC-PLN Conference (Online). Recipients must be registered for the conference and in attendance to receive the award.

Eligibility

Must be a student enrolled at an accredited community college or university for either the current academic term, the term immediately previous to, or the term immediately following the date of application. Note: The West Coast Peer Learning Network Conference does not discriminate on the basis of race, creed, gender, sexual orientation, national origin, age, disability, or marital status.

Selection Criteria

The award recipient will be selected based on their demonstration of outstanding service as peer educator —such as a tutor, mentor, Academic Coach, or SI Leader: Selection criteria include:

  1. Exceptional understanding of peer led academic support in a small group environment
  2. Highly effective SI leadership or tutoring (use of innovative learning strategies; strong rapport with students, faculty, and staff; measured student success; etc.)
  3. Commitment to student success
  4. Quality contribution and impact to student learning and the development of the academic support program within the applicant’s institution.

Submission Requirements

  1. A 250-500 word personal essay on the value of peer academic support in the applicant’s own life, in the life of the students served, and in the context of the larger academic community
  2. One letter of recommendation from the applicant’s campus program supervisor, coordinator, or director
  3. One letter of recommendation from a faculty member (course instructor, department chair, etc.) or staff member who has worked with or directly observed the applicant in their academic support role
  4. A current unofficial college or university transcript with cumulative undergraduate or graduate GPA

Dates and Deadlines

All applications must be submitted by Sunday, October 18, 2026 at 11:59 pm (PST). Selected winners will be contacted via email Friday, October 23, 2026.
